Dominion Raceway – Virginia’s New Race Track for Motorcycle and Car Enthusiasts is Opening Soon!
One of the offices for We Ride Motorsports is located close to this track. Let us know what you need. With advance notice and quantities permitting, we can deliver your gear (track or street) direct to the you at the track. Save on shipping costs on the big box items like bodywork (Optimal Racing, Armour Bodies), Bursig Stands, Exhausts (Arrow, Akrapovic, M4, Yoshimura), Slipper Clutches, etc.
If you are like us (trackday junkies/motorcycle fanatics), there can never be enough race tracks in your area. For us, a track located about 45 mins equidistant from the capital of the US (Washington, DC) and the capital of the Confederacy (Richmond, Virgina) is a huge attraction – like a honey bee to honey.
Also, if you’re like us, then ever since rumors began circulating about the construction of this new racetrack – particularly one that boasts a road course, oval track and drag strip – you’ve been eagerly awaiting news about whether or not it would make it to completion. (Despite the best of intentions, many potential tracks never make it to fruition.)
For approximately two years, We Ride Motorsports has been sniffing for status updates on social media and at motorcycle events.
At about this time last year, it seemed that progress had halted and Dominion Raceway would conclude as a pipe dream. Later, construction resumed and We Ride Motorsports joined in with the almost palpable cheers of motorcycle and car trackday junkies on Facebook, Twitter, motorcycle forums and other social media. But, until recently, we remained unsure whether we would ever see this Thorton, VA track completed.
In order to put our skepticism to rest, on a windy day in late March, We Ride Motorsports took an impromptu motorcycle ride down to Thorton, Virginia in order to see first hand if the Dominion road course would be ready ahead of the upcoming track season.
Soon after our unscheduled arrival at the site, the good folks at Dominion Raceway obliterated any skepticism and shot to the top of our “cool peeps” list when one of the guys from Dominion asked,
“You wanna ride the track? . . . Go for it”
This author’s jaw dropping with incredulity, but already starting the bike and clicking into first gear . . . :“Heck yea!!!!!”
Thanks to the guys at Dominion for allowing We Ride Motorsports the honor of being one of the first to ride the Dominion Raceway Road Course! (Unfortunately, we didn’t know beforehand that we would actually ride the road course so we didn’t bring the GoPro – we could only take off the bike video and pics of the track.)
Speaking of “cool peeps”, we would like thank Edwin Pardue, General Manager of Dominion Raceway. He took time out of his busy schedule to answer some questions posed by some of our customers and social media followers. We placed the questions and answers at the bottom of this blog post.
After lapping the road course multiple times and cruising the property , we can confirm that all three of Dominion’s race tracks – the Oval Track, the Drag Strip and the Road Coarse – are almost complete. We can attest that the road course will prove technical and fast. With both compact and long sweeping turns, this track is going to a blast to ride.
The Dominion Raceway road course should be complete just in time for the first trackday weekend scheduled with Team Promotion – **the TPM event was postponed and will be rescheduled for sometime in the near future**. We have ridden with Team Promotion and they are a fine organization:
If you’re like us, you are dying to ride Dominion Raceway’s road course! We’re sure you’ll find this track well worth the trip down Interstate 95. The track is easy to locate – just off exit 118 on Interstate 95 – when its completed you should be able to see it from the highway.
We’ll see you there!
=============================
We’ll paraphrase below the answers to questions that we posed to Edwin Pardue, General Manager of Dominion Raceway:
Will the track be ready by 4/23/16 ahead of the first scheduled track day?
The plan is to be ready by that date absent any unforeseen weather related or other issues. In construction, one can never completely anticipate unforeseen issues that may lead to delays.
Do you plan to pave or lay stone in the paddock areas?
Once the facility is complete, the paddock will be paved.
Do you plan to put electricity in the paddock area?
Yes, there will be 25 pedestals with multiple outlets.
There are concrete barriers located around the road course and at the bridge. Do you plan to keep them in their current locations?
The concrete barriers were actually designed and developed specifically for Indy Car Racing. We were pleased that we were able to pick up such high quality equipment from the guys that ran the Grand Prix of Baltimore. We will not place the concrete barriers any place where we would not normally put the guardrail. The track is still under construction so many of the concrete barriers may not be in their final intended locations.
Around the road course there appear to be runoff points that slop significantly downward – this may be an issue for vehicles that run off. Do you plan to fill these areas to allow for level runoff areas?
The track is not completed yet. Let us finish the track first before we start answering questions about runoff. You’re looking at a house under construction and hoping that the roof won’t leak. Of course it’s going to leak. You have to look at the house after it’s completed.

The NEW! 2016 “Gen 4” Annitori QS Pro Quickshifter is a sophisticated fully digital electronic device that eliminates the use of the clutch from the shifting process. This means smoother and seamless shifting that helps you to become a quicker and safer rider.
You gain more performance than virtually any other upgrade you could add to your machine . . . for the price of a rear tire! – Satisfied RL Quickshifter customer
Have you ever thought about the number of steps and the amount of time and attention that it costs to shift gears on a motorcycle? You have to roll off the throttle, pull in the clutch, kick the shift lever to the next gear; and release the clutch, while simultaneously reapplying the throttle.
All of these steps not only cost you in time and attention, they also upset the motorcycle chassis by causing the motorcycle to shift back in forth during the drop in throttle and gear change lurching. In a straight line you will lose speed. In the middle of a turn you lose traction and control of the motorcycle.
The NEW! 2016 “Gen 4” Annitori QS Pro Quickshifter increases your speed, reduces your times and minimizes the potential for danger by removing the out of control and lurching element from your street and track riding and freeing your attention to focus on what’s ahead of you.
“This is the closest you’ll get to a paddle shifter on a motorcycle!”
How Does The NEW! 2016 “Gen 4” Annitori QS Pro Quickshifter Work?
The QS Pro Quickshifter is a microprocessor controlled device that uses “Strain Gauge” sensor technology. This technology is now regarded as one of the most important components to any high performance motorcycle. Strain guage shifters are used by virtually all of the world’s top racing teams today in MotoGP and World Superbike. Until now this technology was extremely expensive and unavailable to anyone but factory race teams. We are just now beginning to see them included stock on the most exclusive and expensive motorcycle brands.
In the RL Quickshifter , the Annitori engineering team’s sophisticated software package has succeeded in making this same exclusive technology available to everyone without the cost.
What About the Stock Clutch?
Your stock clutch set up will remain unchanged and will still be very useable.
In fact, for shifts from 1st to 2nd on a typical 600cc bike at 18000 rpms you don’t really need to utilize the quickshifter . . . a normal clutched upshift is all that’s necessary.
However, under “spirited” riding on the street or typical ideal track conditions at the higher speeds, when precise control and speed counts, you will definitely feel the difference. You’ll be glad that you upgraded to the RL Quickshifter!

We are keenly interested in the improvements made by Wayne Rainey andMotoAmerica, the new face of road racing in the United States.
Their decision to add the comic and extremely knowledgeable personality Colin Edwards to the broadcast booth is encouraging for the future of road race broadcasting in the US.
In case you need a reminder of just how easily Colin Edwards can liven things up in the broadcast booth, take a look at our previous post: Colin Edwards Being . . . Colin Edwards.
However, our next question is, “What Happened to Scott Russell?”. The consensus here is that Mr. Daytona was doing a superb job broadcasting road racing.
What do you think? Do you think that Russell was doing well and that he should continue to broadcast road racing in some capacity?

MotoAmerica Announces TV Talent
Jonathan Green, Colin Edwards and Cristy Lee Set For CBS Sports Network Shows
COSTA MESA, CA, FEB. 26 – MotoAmerica, the new home of AMA Superbike racing, has announced its lineup of talent for CBS Sports Network’s coverage of the 2015 MotoAmerica AMA/FIM North American Road Racing Series. The team will be led by veteran race caller Jonathan Green, who will be joined in the booth by analyst and two-time World Superbike Champion Colin Edwards. Noted motorsports TV personality Cristy Lee will round out the trio as pit reporter for the nine-round series that gets started at the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, April 10-12.
The team will be led by broadcasting veteran Green, one of the world’s leading motorsports broadcasters with more than 20 years in the sport as producer, presenter, reporter and commentator. Green is one of a handful in his field who has covered both two and four-wheel motorsport from Formula One to MotoGP and World Superbikes to Indy Car.
“I am honored and excited to be part of this new era for the sport and wholeheartedly believe in what Wayne [Rainey], Chuck [Aksland] and the team are aiming to do over the coming seasons,” Green said. “I am delighted to be part of this excellent broadcast team. I’ve known Colin Edwards his entire career and have covered his World Superbike and MotoGP efforts as a reporter, commentator and presenter. Over the years we’ve become great friends and he is without doubt the most popular and charismatic racer in the world of motorsport. I can’t wait to help bring his insight of the sport that he loves so much to the fans.
“I’ve also worked with Cristy Lee many times before and she is a consummate broadcast professional with an unrivaled passion for motorcycles,” Green added. “I will be putting all of my well-known energy and enthusiasm into the job of helping making MotoAmerica the best National championship in the world and I can’t wait to get started.”
Edwards has been racing motorcycles since the age of four with a career that started in motocross before the Texan made the move to road racing. After a successful AMA Superbike career, Edwards moved to the world stage where he competed for eight years in World Superbike – ultimately capturing the World Superbike Championship in 2000 and 2002. Edwards then moved to MotoGP where he had a successful 12-year career at the top level.
“I’m very excited for this new adventure with MotoAmerica,” Edwards said. “I’ve always been a little vocal during my career and a big part of that is wanting people to feel like they know who I really am. Since retiring and looking forward to this new chapter, my plan is to continue being vocal so you all will know what’s really going on out there. I’ve got a little experience in this area and look forward to getting the ball rolling. See ya in COTA.”
Lee is a lifelong motorsports enthusiast, an amateur road racer and a broadcaster with 10 years of experience as a pit reporter in motorsports ranging from motocross to off-road trucks to AMA Superbike racing. She is also the host of the Barrett-Jackson auto auctions and the show All-Girls Garage.
“I’m really excited for a new road racing series with MotoAmerica,” Lee said. “I’m ecstatic to be part of this new series and be in the pits once again, as I have been for the past couple of years. I think it’s a great, fresh start for the series. I’m excited for the new class structure as well with the combination of Superbike and Superstock racing together in two different classes. I think it will bring a lot more exciting racing to the table for the fans. I’m thankful to be on board and working with Jonathan Green and, of course, Colin Edwards. I think we’re going to make a great team and overall it will be a great season. I couldn’t be happier.”

For Sale! All New! The Annitori QS Pro Quickshifter is Shipping Now!
“I don’t know why I didn’t buy one of these a looooong time ago. I can say I will never own another bike without one!” –Kevin, GA – USA
——————————–
The All New 3rd Generation – “GEN 3” – Annitori QS Pro Quickshifter is now on sale at We Ride Motorsports – but it’s not a revision of the old model – it’s a completely new product!
The Annitori QS Pro is regarded by many as the most technologically advancedquickshifter available. The new model is not an update nor a software addition to previous versions. It boasts a completely new engineered and bulletproof design that uses the absolute highest quality electronics and offers riders unprecedented capabilities – newly engineered to insure durability and eliminate issues found in earlier designs.
Take a look at some of the Annitori QS Pro Quickshifter’s new features and capabilities below:
100% Strain Gauge Technology
Motorcycles designed to race at the highest level of motorsports competition such as MotoGP and World Superbike rely on strain gauge based shifting. The Annitori QS Pro eliminates all of the problems associated with outdated mechanical switch based designs by using this same optimally designed Strain Gauge Technology – the same technology used by Valentino Rossi, Marc Marquez and other professional racers.
Easy Installation – 100% Plug-n-Play
All wiring and connection configurations are exclusively designed for your specific year make and model of motorcycle – so there’s no need for cutting, hacking, nor splicing – insuring that this can be one of the easiest to install upgrades available for your sport bike.
“The Vault”
The “Vault” empowers you to store your settings and to quickly and easily retrieve them for different tracks, different bikes, and different riding situations.
Smartphone Setup Capability – Convenient
The Annitori QS Pro Quickshifter empowers you to use your own cellphone to communicate with your quickshifter and change its settings – eliminating the cumbersome need to hook up to a computer each time that you want to adjust your settings. The QS Pro uses the latest in electronic communication – the Android / Apple / Windows based NFC (Near Field Communication) – to allow riders the most convenient means to change any of the quick shift settings. Right from the smartphone in your pocket you can do ANYTHING you wish with your settings – anytime you wish!
Completely Adjustable Kill Time
You asked for it, and Annitori came through! The new and improved Annitori QS Pro Quickshifter now affords you customized kill times – you can tune the kill signal to your specific bike and unique riding scenario.
Fully Adjustable Tuning
The Annitori QS PRO is fully adjustable allowing you to tune it to exactly what your motorcycle needs! Again, you asked for this, and Annitori made it happen!
PUSH, PULL and BOTH Shift Direction Settings
Unlike other quickshifters, the new QS Pro enables multidirectional shift settings – PUSH, PULL, or BOTH direction settings. With the QS Pro there’s no need to be restricted to only one shift direction choice – plus, there aren’t any limitations associated with not being able to turn off the unused direction. Now it’s all in your control.
Unlimited Adjustability Due to Flexible Directional and Timing Settings
Other quick shifters give you the ability to change a single setting, but you are then stuck with that setting for BOTH your shift directions. With the Annitori QS PRO you can set you sensitivity and kill time specifically to PUSH, and then have completely DIFFERENT settings for the PULL shift direction – or vice-versa. The all new QS Pro lets you choose your set up – with seemingly endless capabilities.
100% Digital Design Affords Unmatched Reliability and Tech Support
The Annitori QS Pro’s engineers made the new quickshifter completely digital. They created a proprietary algorithm and exclusive intelligent software insuring unparalled reliability and, because its proprietary, technical support is no problem.
100% Stand Alone design
The QS PRO does not require any other product in order to function. It is 100% self-contained and 100% self sustaining. So there are no issues with the interface, communication or interference. Your bike can be a MotoGP bike with every option on the planet, or a stock bike fresh of the showroom floor – the QS PRO attaches and works exactly the same without any other products needed.
Durable Completely Sealed & Weatherproof
There are No LEDs to burn out, no buttons to fail, no openings or external add-ons to potentially compromise the shifter over time. Riders asked for durability, the Annitori QS PRO offers that and then some . . .!!
Thanks to YouTube’s ds15na for providing the above video.
More about the Annitori QS Pro and how it works
The Annitori QS Pro is a sophisticated fully digital electronic device that eliminates the use of the clutch from the shifting process. This means smoother and seamless shifting that helps you to become a quicker and safer rider.

***We received the following email from another satisfied We Ride Motorsports’ customer:
“Thanks for the quick delivery of the . . . Quickshifter. I installed it on my Ducati 1198 within a couple hours of its arrival. Bottom line: the quick shifter functions flawlessly! Installation instructions are complete and easy to follow and required only the removal of the Ducati’s left side fairing . . . Back-shifting to lower gears using the clutch as usual is no different than without the quick shifter installed. However, shifting to higher gears with no clutch and the throttle open feels very smooth and seamless and requires only a positive press and release of the gear lever. So far, I am extremely pleased with this product and appreciate your offering it for sale.”
