Have you ever thought about the number of steps and the amount of time and attention that it costs to shift gears on a motorcycle?  You have to roll off the throttle, pull in the clutch, kick the shift lever to the next gear;  and release the clutch, while simultaneously reapplying the throttle.

All of these steps not only cost you in time and attention, they also upset the motorcycle chassis by causing the motorcycle to shift back in forth during the drop in throttle and gear change lurching.  In a straight line you will lose speed.  In the middle of a turn you lose traction and control of the motorcycle.

The NEW! 2016 “Gen 4” Annitori QS Pro Quickshifter increases your speed, reduces your times and minimizes the potential for danger by removing the out of control and lurching element from your street and track riding and freeing your attention to focus on what’s ahead of you.

NEW! 2016 "Gen 4" Annitori QS Pro Quickshifter

How Does The NEW! 2016 “Gen 4” Annitori QS Pro Quickshifter Work?

The QS Pro Quickshifter is a microprocessor controlled device that uses “Strain Gauge” sensor technology.  This technology is now regarded as one of the most important components to any high performance motorcycle.  Strain guage shifters are used by virtually all of the world’s top racing teams today in MotoGP and World Superbike.  Until now this technology was extremely expensive and unavailable to anyone but factory race teams.  We are just now beginning to see them included stock on the most exclusive and expensive motorcycle brands.

In the RL Quickshifter , the Annitori engineering team’s sophisticated software package has succeeded in making this same exclusive technology available to everyone without the cost.

What About the Stock Clutch?

Your stock clutch set up will remain unchanged and will still be very useable.

In fact, for shifts from 1st to 2nd on a typical 600cc bike at 18000 rpms you don’t really need to utilize the quickshifter . . . a normal clutched upshift is all that’s necessary.

However, under “spirited” riding on the street or typical ideal track conditions at the higher speeds, when precise control and speed counts, you will definitely feel the difference.  You’ll be glad that you upgraded to the RL Quickshifter!

Ben Spies Retires from MotoGP and Ducati

Official Press Release:

Ducati and Ben Spies announce the American’s retirement from racing competition

· Spies announces retirement after a successful career in Superbike and MotoGP
· Decision taken jointly by Ducati and the Texan rider
· Retirement prompted by doubts about physical ability to race next year

Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), October 26, 2013 – Ducati Motor Holding and Ben Spies announced today that the American will not be racing in 2014 after the parties reached agreement to resolve Ben’s current contract with the Italian racing manufacturer. The 29-year-old Texan had signed a two-year agreement with Ducati at the end of last season to race in MotoGP in 2013 and 2014 as part of the factory-supported Ignite Pramac Racing Team.

Ben has been sidelined for most of this season due to an injury to his right shoulder sustained in October 2012 while riding for another manufacturer team. While he began 2013 racing with Pramac, it quickly became clear that he was not fully healed from his injury and needed to undergo further rehabilitation on his shoulder. Unfortunately, on his return to racing at Indianapolis in August, Ben had another setback when he suffered a season-ending crash during practice.

The resulting operations on both shoulders have left Spies feeling that his physical ability to ride next year remains in question and a decision was jointly made by Ducati and Ben to release Ben from any requirement to race in 2014.

The 2009 World Superbike Champion, three-time AMA Superbike Champion and MotoGP race winner announced his retirement from the sport in the following way: “I had such high hopes for racing for Ducati, and Ducati has been incredibly supportive of me during this challenging year, so I am tremendously disappointed that I have not been able to fulfill my personal goals and team goals with Ducati. I want to thank everyone from racing organizations, factories, teams and all my fans for helping me and supporting me throughout my career. I never dreamed that I would reach the level of success that I have over the past 20 years of racing, but the time has come to stop and I do so with great sadness.”

Spies’ manager/mother Mary Spies added: “Wherever Ben has raced over the years—from AMA Superbike to World Superbike to MotoGP—he has always felt the warmth and appreciation of the organizers, circuits, teams and fans. We are so grateful to them for their support.”

Ducati MotoGP Project Director Paolo Ciabatti declared: “We had high expectations when Ben joined Ducati in MotoGP this year, and we really hoped that he would fully recover from his Indianapolis crash injuries and continue to race for us in the future. However we understand the reasons for his decision and respect them. It is really a shame for our sport that Ben will not be racing anymore, because in our opinion he is one of the most talented riders in the world. We will miss him and wish him all the best for his future life.”

UPDATE 10/28/13:  Mat Mladin’s response to Ben Spies’ Retirement: Epic.

Asked for comment on Spies retirement, Mladin responded with just two words: “F*#king pussy.”

Mladin refused to be drawn out on the subject, saying “You got my quote.”

“Thanks for the quick delivery of the Gen 2 Annitori RL Quickshifter by HM.  I installed it on my Ducati 1198 within a couple hours of its arrival.  Bottom line: the quick shifter functions flawlessly!  Installation instructions are complete and easy to follow and required only the removal of the Ducati’s left side fairing . . . Back-shifting to lower gears using the clutch as usual is no different than without the quick shifter installed.  However, shifting to higher gears with no clutch and the throttle open feels very smooth and seamless and requires only a positive press and release of the gear lever.  So far, I am extremely pleased with this product and appreciate your offering it for sale.”

**Received the following email from another satisfied We Ride Motorsports’ customer:

Thanks for the quick delivery of the Gen 2 Annitori RL Quickshifter by HM.  I installed it on my Ducati 1198 within a couple hours of its arrival.  Bottom line: the quick shifter functions flawlessly!
Installation instructions are complete and easy to follow and required only the removal of the Ducati’s left side fairing.  It helps to have the service manual that shows where to find the connectors to the ignition coils.  I prefer GP-style shift pattern and use the sock linkage and rear sets (see attached photo.)
After reading of some experiences other riders have had with the quick shifter, I anticipated the possibility of the engine stalling when shifting into neutral.  This has not happened with my bike.  Back-shifting to lower gears using the clutch as usual is no different than without the quick shifter installed.  However, shifting to higher gears with no clutch and the throttle open feels very smooth and seamless and requires only a positive press and release of the gear lever.
So far, I am extremely pleased with this product and appreciate your offering it for sale.
–Emailed from K. Jenson on 6/5 – Thanks for the email and keep riding!  Let us know if you need anything else for the 1198!

Michael Jordan Motorsports’ AMA Road Race Team announced the 2013 livery for their Suzuki GSX-R 1000 motorcycles high atop the Willis Tower (formerly the Sears Tower) on the 103rd floor of the Skydeck in Chicago.

Matching your bike to your sneaker – the Air Jordan XX8 shoe?  That’s great marketing but isn’t that a bit too superficial for the motorcycle crowd?

Actually, no.  On the other hand, Michael Jordan Motorsports was saavy enough to hire two of the best pilots  in the AMA road racing business to pilot their beast of a motorcycle:

  • Danny Eslick, one of the most exciting racers to watch in AMA Road Racing today.
  • Roger Hayden, the most recent in a long history Hayden boys that dominate road racing in the US and across the globe.
  • The beast: beneath that paint scheme is a race outfitted Suzuki GSX-R 1000.

A flashy colored bike that matches a popular sneaker . . . that’s pretty hot.  Setting up that same flashy colored bike to race in the AMA Road Race championship with the potential to win . . . that’s molten lava.

Fashion marketing meets function to the max … brilliant!

There aren’t any complaints here.  Carry on Michael Jordan Motorsports . . . and good luck in 2013.

What do you think about this paint scheme?  See if you agree with others and take our poll below?

dane westby to ride the geico honda in 2013Dane (Wolverine) Westby along with Team Hammer, and Geico Motorcycles announced recently that he will relinquish his M4 Suzuki GSX-R 600 in favor a new Honda CBR 600RR motorcycle in 2013. This marks the return of Honda motorcycles to the AMA Pro Road Racing paddock after years of absence.  American Honda pulled out of AMA racing in 2009 just as the Daytona Motorsports Group (DMG) took over the series.

Chris Ulrich, of Team Hammer, had the following to say about Team Hammer’s new direction with Honda:

“Honda is the elite of the motorcycle world and that is why we chose to race Honda’s CBR line of motorcycles, and why we’re proud to be bringing Honda motorcycles back into the paddock. It’s great for our race team, increases the credibility of AMA Pro Racing and adds excitement for motorcycle road racing fans in the United States. This new adventure is going to be a big challenge, but I have confidence in Team Hammer’s ability to build fast and reliable racebikes.”

dane westby to ride a geico honda in 2013

Dane had the following to say about the move to a Geico sponsored Honda:

“I’m really honored to be riding the Geico Motorcycle-sponsored Honda CBR600RR in 2013.  My crew and I have been growing together and making things happen and now we’ve added to the mix with a new motorcycle brand. I have a garage full of Hondas and I learned to ride on a Honda. So I’m really proud to Ride Red and I’m really excited about the upcoming season.”

Congratulations Wolverine and welcome back Honda motorcycles!  Good luck in 2013!

one millionth special edition suzukiSuzuki recently released photos of the “One Millionth” Special Edition GSX-R 1000 to commemorate Suzuki’s 27 years of success and the production of over one million of this archetypical  sport bike.

In addition to its unique red nose cone and the unique  paint scheme, the limited edition model is equipped with black Brembo Monoblock calipers with gold lettering, gold forks, a celebratory tank graphics, a numbered top yoke, red fork tops, wheel stripes, and a unique key ring.

There’s no word as to the price of this bike nor whether the limited edition model will make it to North America.  Given the number of North Americans that have already embraced a percentage of the million produced, it is hard to imagine this unique motorcycle not making it to the American shores.
