NEW IMPROVED! XT Racing GPX Pro 4 or GPX Pro 8

“The GPX Pro is amazing”

Once you have this lap timer you’ll wonder how you ever got on the track without one.

The GPX Pro is the newest in XT Racing’s line of precision racing equipment.  Packed with features designed to give you superior insight into your time on the race track, the GPX Pro isn’t just a lap timer, it’s a professional-grade racing tool with the club racer’s budget in mind. In order to be a valuable tool, the GPX Pro was designed to be versatile enough to log the data a racer wants while being adaptable enough to handle many different forms of racing. With the GPX Pro, you don’t have to wonder if it was designed for your kind of racing. At up to 8 channels of data acquisition and with four separate racing modes, the GPX assures that if it can be raced then a GPX belongs on it.

The GPX is literally jam packed with features previously found in models hundreds of dollars more expensive.

This is no ordinary lap timer.

Features

GPS-based lap times to 1/100 seconds
Say goodbye to trackside transmitters! With the GPX, you can race with the confidence that your lap times are being recorded accurately without the hassle of setting up and powering a trackside beacon.

Track maps with full data analysis capabilities
Ever find yourself struggling to pick up tenths on the race track? Let GPX’s mapping and data analysis give you a hand. By allowing you to see things like your throttle position, RPM and speed through the turns, you’ll know exactly where you have room to improve.

Min/Max RPM and speed for each lap
With GPX’s Min/Max RPM and speed feature, you’ll be able to see exactly how hard you pushed each lap to go faster.

Automatic track recognition and start/finish line setup
After running just two laps on any circuit, GPX will then automatically recognize the track and calibrate a start/finish line for you anytime you return; no hassle or setup required.

Store hundreds of laps and sessions
With GPX’s onboard memory, have an entire season’s worth of racing for review right at your fingertips.

Hour meter and total miles/kilometers traveled
Have more than one vehicle or engine? Keep track of exactly how far and how long you’ve driven each motor to help keep maintenance up to date. Prevent unwanted blow-ups and missed races by knowing exactly where your engines stand.

GPS speed and 8 data acquisition channels
With its GPS chipset, GPX logs your actual land speed with precision, even after gearing changes. With its 8 channels of acquisition and flexible digital/analog recording capabilities, record any and everything you are interested in seeing on your race vehicle.

Design your own screen layouts
Customization is a feature close to the heart of the GPX. With the 240×160 display comes the ability to set up the information it gives you in the way the best suited to your needs using GPX’s software suite, GPStudio. Arrange your data and even include images or photos to make the GPX your own.

3-axis accelerometer records and graphs your racing g’s
Ever wonder how many g’s you were pulling through that carousel? Want to know how hard you were braking into that hairpin? With GPX’s 3 axis accelerometer, track your g’s through every moment of every lap.

Selectable modes – Circuit Racing, Point-to-Point, Drag Racing
The GPX is designed with the racer in mind and realizes that not all racers are the same. With its included modes, there’s virtually no limit to the types of racing it will record. From quarter mile to eighth mile to the Baja 1000… GPX will record it all! Drag mode also includes a tree start using the tachometer’s LEDs, enabling you to practice your starts and record your reaction times.

Acceleration and braking tests
Can’t tell if those brake pads are ready to be replaced or not? Curious what your 0-60 time is? The GPX comes equipped with all the tools you need to answer those questions. With its 0-60, 0-60-0, 0-100 and 0-100-0 test modes not to mention an array of others, you’ll have everything you need to calculate horsepower and tune your engine on the fly.

Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo are together again at Yamaha | We Ride Motorsports

This just in . . .  straight from the sources:  Ducati and Rossi to part ways at the end of 2012.  Valentino Rossi will join Yamaha in 2013 for two year contract!

Ducati Press Release:

MotoGP 2012 – Press Release

10 August 2012

Ducati and Rossi to part ways at the end of 2012
As the MotoGP series awaits its return to action for the August 19 Indianapolis Grand Prix, Ducati announces that its working relationship with Valentino Rossi will conclude at the end of the 2012 MotoGP World Championship.
Ducati wishes the Italian well for the new challenges that await him, and in the meantime, the team will continue to give its best effort in order to improve over the latter part of the season.
Racing has always been in Ducati’s DNA, and now more than ever, it is integral to the Borgo Panigale company’s product development and image. AUDI shares Ducati’s strategic approach and agrees with its growing commitment to competition.

Therefore, having recently renewed its agreement with American Nicky Hayden, Ducati is in the process of finalizing the team that will take part in the 2013 World Championship, confident that its team and bike will be capable of competing at the highest level.

Valentino Rossi first joined Yamaha in 2004 and achieved four MotoGP World Champion titles with the Yamaha YZR-M1 in 2004 & 2005 and again in 2008 & 2009. He won 46 Grand Prix races with Yamaha over a 7-year period before leaving at the end of the 2010 MotoGP season.

Rossi, who is presently 8th in the Championship standings, will partner Jorge Lorenzo who currently leads the 2012 MotoGP World Championship by 23 points, having taken five victories from the first ten completed races of the 18 race series.

Lin Jarvis, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor Racing

“This announcement is once again excellent news for Yamaha. In June we were able to sign Jorge Lorenzo for the 2013-14 campaign and now we are able to confirm Valentino Rossi for the next two years. In doing so we have been able to put together the strongest possible team to challenge for victories and to promote the Yamaha brand.

We have run this ‘super team’ together in 2008, 2009 and 2010 and during that time we achieved the ‘triple crown’ titles with Rider, Manufacturer and Team World Championship victories for three consecutive years.

The target for the future is obvious and we will do our utmost to achieve our goals.

I have no doubt that with the experience, knowledge, skills and speed of these two great champion riders we will be able to challenge for many race wins and for the 2013 & 2014 World Championship titles.

The signing of Valentino completes our future planning for the Yamaha Factory Racing MotoGP Team. Now that this is done we will put our 100% efforts into completing the job at hand and to supporting Ben Spies and Jorge Lorenzo in their search for race victories and for Jorge’s 2012 World Championship title challenge.”

Colin Edwards | We Ride Motorsports“We had our ass smacked and our balls tickled and it just hasn’t come to fruition.  Some of the things we were promised just haven’t happened” – Colin Edwards.

We can always expect to get the pure unrefined truth from Colin Edwards.  In typical Colin Edwards fashion, he gave his opinion of the CRT bikes ahead of this weeks US MotoGP race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

__

Colin Edwards gave a typically colourful explanation of his 2012 MotoGP struggles when he met with the media on the eve of his home US MotoGP at Laguna Seca on Thursday.

The former double World Superbike champion and twelve-time MotoGP podium finisher was the most high-profile rider to sign-up for the new CRT privateer category.

But the Texan made clear he expected much more from the Suter-BMW project, with which he has scored points just twice so far this year.

Asked about his ‘really tough’ season, Edwards replied: “Yeah. My bike is a piece of sh*t. That’d be a better way to say it!

“It’s been tough. Obviously some of the things we’ve been promised… we had our ass smacked and our balls tickled and it just hasn’t come to fruition.

“Some of the things we were promise just haven’t happened. I’m not only trying to race the bike I’m doing 100% of the development. We don’t have anybody there…

“You have that big window of electronics and everything and you need to get it down to a small point, then fine tune it. We’re not even there yet and it’s halfway through the year.”

Marquez and Pedrosa Confirmed for 2013 & 2014 | We Ride Motorsports

With the departure of Casey Stoner at the end of this year, everyone has been speculating who would replace the World Champion.  We now have a portion of the answer:  Marq Marquez (Stay tuned:  Will there be a 3rd addition to the team?).

Repsol Honda‘s press release follows:

___________________

Dani Pedrosa and Marc Márquez to race together in Repsol Honda Team

Honda Racing Corporation is pleased to officially announce Dani Pedrosa and Marc Márquez as the two factory Honda riders for 2013 and 2014.

Pedrosa, who currently lies 2nd in the World Championship as the season reaches the halfway point, will extend his contract with Honda with whom he has raced with his debut in the World Championship in 2001. Dani is a three time World Champion (2003 in 125cc, 2004 and 2005 in 250cc) and made his debut in MotoGP in 2006, claiming the Rookie of the Year title and fifth position in the Championship. He has been runner up twice and has also finished third in the premier class on two occasions. After celebrating his maiden win of the 2012 season last weekend in Germany, Dani has shown he is certainly one of the contenders for the title in the premier class this year.

Marc Márquez, born on 17th of February 1993, will make his debut in MotoGP with the Honda factory team at just 20 years old. Already recognised as one of the biggest young talents in the World Championship, Marc has signed for two years with HRC. He was 125cc World Champion in 2010, runner up on his debut year in Moto2 class and is currently leading the Moto2 World Championship by 43 points.
